In 1985, Nan Qi entered the Traditional Chinese Painting Department of the Beijing People’s Liberation Army Academy of Art.
From 1995, moved to live in Hong Kong, and returned to live in Beijing in 2002.
Nan Qi is a full-time ink painter and an organiser of exhibitions. He is also the chairman of the Hong Kong Association of Asian Artists and a member of the China Artists Association. He now lives and works in his studio, South Stream Studio, in Beijing Jiuchang International Art Complex.
