Biography of Jimei Chilei 计美赤列
  • 1958 - Born in Lhasa, Tibet
  • 1986 - Work, “Archery on Horseback”, won the National Folk Painting Prize at the 5th Tibet Autonomous Region Art Exhibition.
  • 1989 - Travelling Exhibition of Tibetan Art (Europe, North America and South America)
  • 1990 - Travelling Exhibition (Taiwan and Guangzhou), Excellence Award at the “Geshan” Competition
  • 1992 - Snowland Feeling – Paintings by Tibetan Artists (Macao)
  • 1993 - Exhibition of Tibetan Tapestry Art (Macao)
  • 1994 - Bronze Medal Award at the 2nd Canada International Wash-&-Ink Competition (Toronto, Canada)
  • 1996 - Exhibition of Tibetan Paintings (Kathmandu, Nepal)
  • 1998 - Excellent Works of Contemporary Tibetan Art (Kuala Lumpur and Penang, Malaysia)
  • 1999 - Brilliant Pearl from the Snowland – Exhibition of Tibetan Culture (The Cultural Palace of Nationalities, Beijing)
  • 1999 - Excellence Award at the 4th China Minority Nationalities Art Exhibition
  • 2000 - Exhibition of Colour-and-Ink Paintings by Contemporary Tibetan Artists (Macao)

Jimei Chilei was born in 1958 in Lhasa, Tibet. After graduating from the Department of Art, University of Tibet in 1981, he undertook studies at the Department of Ethnic Arts, Central Institute of Fine Arts. By 2007, he had become a very established artist. He is Secretary General of the Tibetan Artists Association, a member of the Chinese Artists Association, and a Council Member of the China Oil Painting Society.
