Benba was born in 1971 in Bainang County, Tibet. Between 1989 and 1994 he studied under the Fine Arts and Organism Department in the University of Tibet. In 1994, he taught in Lhasa Normal School. Currently working for the Tibet Autonomous Region Federation of Literature and Art Circles, he is Vice-Secretary of the Tibetan Artists Association and a member of the Chinese Artists Association.
